New
Cape Researcher: Andrea Derler.
Andrea
Derler joins the Thierry Graduate School's faculty in the
capacity of Cape Researcher, specializing in authentic leadership, and in
performance consulting.
Andrea
is Austrian and recently relocated from Europe to Michigan, USA. She is
a training performance consultant in sales, customer service and
leadership development. She was previously
based in the United Kingdom, where she worked as an executive for a
leading British bank, subsequent to her employment at a major American
corporation. Andrea's practice-oriented
research-work at the THIERRY leadership school is in the domain of ethics in leadership, more
specifically in authentic leadership. She places the emphasis on the
necessity for constant professional and personal growth of leaders, in
favour of the organizations and the people they work with. Andrea challenges leaders, as well as all other persons in
an organization,
to find an adequate balance between the striving for change and the need
to remain true to one’s core values. Andrea's base education is in philosophy;
a field in which she holds an undergraduate and a Masters degree earned at the Karl
Franzens University in Austria. This year she graduated as a Master
of Philosophy in Leadership Studies from the Thierry School, and will embark on her PhD in the course of 2007. Andrea also attended
two editions of the THIERRY Summer-programme, a major leadership
learning event held each year in Belgium. She
currently focuses her professional
passion
on the leaders of small and medium size organizations, as
well as on start-ups where young entrepreneurs - men and women alike -
engage into key leadership roles.
