Twin Curriculum: Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Advanced Leadership Studies, and the PhD Degree Programme in Leadership (and Mastery of Change) 

      

Paths leading towards the Ph.D. degree (in the PGD + PhD Twin Curriculum)

Twin Curriculum of postgraduate diploma in advanced leadership studies (PGD), in a tandem with a doctorate curriculum, and candidacy stage leading towards a Ph.D. degree. The four paths towards the Ph.D. degree, framework valid as of the 2009-2010 academic year, and only for the Twin Curriculum in which English is the language of instruction,  Another language is possible for the doctorate stage, when student's own choice/preference (if fluent in both languages, and contingent on possibilities and prior institutional approvals). 

 

In the grid found below the word "field" means: academic discipline of study; the word "focus" means: specialism, or major (depending on country/system).

 

The paths/options listed below encompass all possibilities, some of which are being introduced during the 2009-2010 academic year. For further guidance please contact the school, email: directorate@thierryschool.be

 

PhD in Leadership field

(PGD completed before PhD)

PhD in another field (PGD combined with or before PhD)

Path A >>

PGD to be completed in full at Thierry, followed by the PhD in Leadership (including thesis), undertaken in the frame of a direct partnership with an affiliated institution or another university, and internationally. 

 

Path A: applicable as of Class of 2010, and for the subsequent years; in the frame of cooperative agreement(s) (transfer-student), inter-university protocol, charter, and/or validation; joint-programs, possibly joint-jury,..

PGD to be completed at Thierry, combined with or before the PhD in another field but with a leadership focus in the thesis (dissertation), and thesis defence undertaken at another educational institution of the student's own choice.

 

Path C: possible PhD fields combinable with PGD (partial list): management, business administration, education, educ. admin., public administration, policy, psychology, behavioural sciences, environmental science,...

PGD to be completed at Thierry, before the PhD in Leadership studies' capstone-stage (including thesis/dissertation) to be completed at another educational institution of the student's own choice.  

 

Path B: applicants have to identify/select a university for the PhD stage, before applying for admission into the PGD.

PGD to be completed at Thierry, student admitted on special recommendation by another university, and subsequent PhD incl. thesis (dissertation) undertaken at referring university. 

 

Path D applicable in, for instance, the development of faculty members in leadership studies, knowledge transfer agreements, possibly pre- or post-doctorate curriculum,..).
