PhD in Leadership and Mastery of Change
Admission Regulations -- per 1 September 2008 (information found on this page updated on 28 July 2008).
The following regulations enter into effect for all newly admitted applicants who start the doctorate programme after 31 August 2008:
1. Applicants holding a masters degree
a. Prior masters degree is not in leadership
Applicants who hold a master degree in another field (academic discipline of study) than that of leadership, first undertake an entire (extensive) core-curriculum which leads to either the Postgraduate diploma in Leadership and Change (PGD), or to the Master of Arts in Leadership degree (MA); then to be followed by the research and thesis stages which lead to the PhD degree. The school's Directorate will provide guidance about which of the PGD diploma or the MA degree option to choose.
b. Prior masters degree is in the field of leadership
Applicants who hold a masters degree in the academic discipline of leadership, from a recognised university, and who meet all of the other admission requirement for the PhD, qualify for waivers of courses in the core-curriculum of the doctorate programme (i.e. do not undertake the Postgraduate diploma phase). The credits' transfer process of the prior masters studies is supervised by the Graduate School's Directorate.
2. Applicants who do not hold a masters degree
Applicants who meet the admission requirements for the PhD, but who do not hold a masters degree (i.e. only an undergraduate Bachelor degree), first attend our Graduate School's Master of Arts (MA) in Leadership. Most of the masters' course-credits are subsequently transferred towards the doctorate curriculum requirements.
