The Four Pillars framework shown in the grid below reflects the combination of the Postgraduate Diploma PALS) plus PhD degree stages. It is the fourth Pillar, the Field Project, and its overarching doctorate thesis (dissertation), that is tied to the PhD-specific portion of the Twin programme. In the case where the PhD thesis (dissertation) will be presented and defended at another educational institution, the Field Project pillar's structure and contents could be contingent on the latter institution's standards and academic customs.
