Preamble (update). As of 2010-2011 the 'Executive' versions of our master's curriculum in leadership will be offered in modified formats and locations in Europe. The information found below is provided as an overall guideline about the program. The actual course delivery, classroom attendance, online courses,... are subject to slight variations depending on the curriculum formats and geographical locations. Originally based in Brussels, the scope-location of both the program and its participants has been extended, by means of a commuting system of faculty members, and in certain cases by cooperations. For instance in France with the INSIL, Institut Supérieur International de Leadership. As of 2010-2011, and 2011-2012, the geographical area encompasses (1) north-western continental Europe, a nd (2) south-eastern Europe (contingent on the number of admissions).
Programme. The Executive version of our comprehensive leadership development curriculum, leading to a Diploma and subsequently to a Master of Arts degree in Leadership degree is a part-time (two years) and hybrid learning type of program, combining classroom courses, with one-day seminars, and some online modules. The entire curriculum program has a demonstrated track record of success. Having been launched in the year 2000 it was one of the pioneering programs in the entire world. As for the fully online version, called 'Hercules', launched in 2002, it was the very first one of its type in Europe.
Aims. The executive masters-level program is intended for European and international executives who seek to strengthen their self-, interpersonal-, and leader- competencies to optimal levels. The programmatic format also meets the needs for gradual development, or long-lasting (lifelong) integrative growth. Moreover, the part-time mode is of particular benefit to the quality of learning, and to a harmonious life-work-study path during the entire duration of the programme. With the aim of ensuring top-level learning and personal development, the number of places available in the executive programs is limited to sixteen persons.
Format. The Executive version of the program is usually divided into six trimesters (quarters). There are evening-sessions (one per week); daytime workshops (one full day every 5 to 7 weeks); individual and team case-study and reporting; and a number of courses offered online (for individual home-based study). The sixth trimester is entirely devoted to the preparation and writing of the final paper which pre-empts the subsequent practice-oriented masters thesis.
Participants who prefer to study at their own pace, in a customized mode with executive coaching, can in many cases complete the program in an alternate individualised mode of learning. Please contact us for further guidance about this possibility ( directorate@thierryschool.be)
Curriculum. The comprehensive masters curriculum includes practice-oriented topics in, for instance, human behaviour; leadership growth (self-awareness, personal development, self-leadership,...); team dynamics and leadership; ethics and social responsibility, organizational leadership strategy; environmental leadership (a.o. leadership dimensions re. global warming); and the initiation, management and mastery of change processes.
English is the language used in all courses, in the participants' interaction and exchanges, and in the entire course-documentation. The language of the Individual executive coaching is either English, French, German, or Dutch.
