Eric A. Koester

StaySail Coach, Class of 2004 MA Alumnus

Specialty area: Environmental Leadership

Eric is a consultant, focusing on the environment and technology, as well as on corporate leadership and management study. He holds a BA degree in Finance and Marketing from Marquette University in Wisconsin, USA. In 2004 he completed the Master of Arts in Leadership program of our Graduate School (specializing in Environmental Leadership). He then started doctoral studies, at the George Washington University, and in May 2006 he earned his JD-degree (Doctorate of Laws), with a focus on Corporate Environmental Law.

Being involved in the field of environmental study since 1993, he is the author of a number of  publications and consulting studies on environmental topics  Additionally, he has significant involvement in the study and understanding of emerging technologies in the environmental industry. His involvement and work with the Thierry Graduate School has been instrumental in the  development of the Master in Leadership's EnviroLead concentration. The EnviroLead aims at providing leaders in the environmental fields with an opportunity to develop key skills for success in their careers. Eric's feeling is that a better understanding of the important factors that influence consumer thought, political legislation, and corporate action, will provide better opportunities to enact change and manage growth.

Eric has professional experience in several industries outside of the environmental fields, and plans to leverage off his background -- for instance by utilizing his education in law and in business to strengthen his involvement in the environmental process. Eric is presently living  in Seattle, and has travelled extensively throughout the world.
