Havovi Heerjee Joshi

StaySail Coach-lecturer, as a Ph.D.programme-participant

Specialty area: Leadership Development in Corporate Environments

Havovi, a citizen from India,  is currently based in Hong Kong. Her work experience, ranging over the past seventeen years, has two distinct parts. On the one hand there are nine years in the banking industry, and on the other hand eight years in consultancy and training.

By the time she started her professional career Havovi had earned a BA degree (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Delhi, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India's premier management institute.

She then joined a leading multinational bank, and worked successively in the credit department, and the audit department, in India and in Australia. In the year 2000 she undertook a major professional change, a step in her overall career plan, and moved into the training and education field which had always interested her.

From 2000 to 2004 she freelanced and taught at various institutes and MBA colleges in Delhi and Chandigarh, lecturing in the area of Organization Behaviour, with a special focus on leadership, communication and presentation skills. Havovi has independently conceptualized, prepared and conducted workshops for groups of students (up to 600 college graduates), and for individuals, in the form of intensive one-on-one sessions.

Recent assignments included the largest audit and management company of Mauritius, where she worked as a part-time consultant, and was responsible for preparing and conducting the soft skills courses for the audit team of the company. The courses she has prepared and conducted include Communication Skills, Personality Development, Conflict Management, and Negotiation skills. Havovi has now relocated to Hong Kong, where she aims at  continuing on the tracks of her chosen career as a trainer and educator.

Havovi had meanwhile commenced working towards her PhD degree, and attends our institution’s online doctorate curriculum. Her objective is that the completion of the programme provide her with the theoretical knowledge and practice-oriented exposure that will allow her to be recognized as a top-level learning facilitator. She attended and lectured at the 2007 edition of our Summer residential programme (picture above, right), and aims at a thesis completion as a Class of 2009 Graduate.
