The MainSails and StaySails on our Leader-Ship, and the Faculty 'At-Large' [1]...   

 

We chose the image of a sailing ship to represent an environment-friendly and team-spirited vehicle, a leader-ship, that carries our programme-participants towards new horizons of thought, feeling and action in leadership. The nautical world also inspired us in the adoption of the MainSail, StaySail, Cape, and At-Large Faculty title-qualifications.

MainSail  - On a sailing boat the mainsail (or topsail) transforms the carrier winds, propelling the vessel forward. At our Graduate School the Senior Faculty members hold the qualification of MainSail Professor (Lecturer), and/or Coach.

 

StaySail  - A staysail (or foresail, or jib) maintains the motion finely tuned to the carrier winds, and on a precise course, while generating a boost in cruising-speed. A StaySail Faculty-member (equiv. to an adjunct or assistant professor) is a THIERRY doctorate candidate or alumnus who shares his/her knowledge in a given specialty area.

 

Cape - The Cape Researcher establishes the advance of a land, of a given field of study, into the ocean of leadership and change in general. It also alludes to a manned lighthouse guiding leader-ships. The Cape-role is one for MA and MPhil alumni of our Graduate School, and who pursue further action-research in their professional fields.

 

At-Large ("across oceans")  THIERRY is honoured by the support emanating from professors at other educational institutions worldwide. The At-Large title is awarded on  special nomination by our Graduate School. Professors-At-Large also offer occasional guest-lectures at our Graduate School. 

 

Apart from the faculty members there are two independent academic officers, appointed by an inter-collegiate accreditation council, who are entrusted  with the surveying of our curricula and operational-academic standards.
