Lesly Jules

StaySail Coach-lecturer, in the capacity of Class of 2008 Ph.D. Alumnus

Specialty area: Entrepreneurship, and Organizational Development of NGO's

Lesly Jules, a citizen of Haiti, is a consultant in business and organisational development. He has conducted action-research and facilitated training and coaching sessions for many key-corporations in Haiti.

He currently assists an international organisation that provides technical assistance to local non-governmental organisations, focusing on sustainability through capacity-building. One of his programmes includes a business incubator.

Having taught during five years at the Quisqueya University in Haiti, he enhanced his courses by the rich professional experience he gained in marketing, business development, and strategic planning, in the corporate field, and in the non-profit sector.

Lesly has travelled extensively, in countries of Latin and Central America, North-America, Africa, Europe and the Indian Ocean. His initial education is in economics; he obtained a Bachelor degree from the State University of Haiti. Later on he earned a postgraduate diploma in business and entrepreneurship from the IFE in Mauritius. His book, entitled 'Le Guide de la Création d'Entreprise en Haïti', is a practical guide for entrepreneurs, and was published in 2003.

Lesly is also one of the founders, and the chairman, of the “Centre Spécialisé de Leadership”, a Haitian not-for-profit educational organisation established in 2006, and which provides continuing education opportunities for executives, more specifically in the fields of leadership and management.

As a PhD programme-participant of our Graduate School, Lesly combined his studies with his professional career. He attended our 2006 Residential Summer-Program in Belgium (picture above), during which he lectured on: ’The Importance of Ownership and Participation in Leading Sustainable Change'. His doctorate thesis, of which the viva (oral defence) was held in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in cooperation with Université Quisqueya, focused on 'Strategic Mentoring in the Leadership Competency Development of Small Business Leaders in Haiti'.
