Leadership Development
Matt’s previous professional career has taken him to
Hungary, where he spent one year teaching English. Afterwards he
returned to New Orleans where he taught a variety of subjects including
world religions, and ethics, as well as coaching the basketball team at
Mount Carmel Academy. During the summers Matt travelled to
Switzerland, to the Leysin American School, where he taught to students
from over 40 different countries. In 2001 he was hired by the then president
of Loyola University New Orleans, Matt's alma mater, where he developed
a service-learning based mentor programme, in collaboration with Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of America. During this three years' project Matt
was able to recruit more than 450 Loyola students to serve as mentors
for the elementary/primary school children of New Orleans. He therewith
created the largest chartered student organization within his first year
at Loyola. Matt’s travels throughout his career have taken him
to over 25 countries, mostly in Europe. Through his various posts he has
worked with high level government officials including former His education includes a BA in History earned at Loyola
University New Orleans in 1998, and a Master of Arts in Leadership
from our Graduate School (in 2006). Matt also attended the 2004 edition
of our Summer residential programme in Brussels (picture above with a
few fellow participants, was taken during the Summer programme).
