Leadership:
The Art of Spirit and Heart in Action
By the choice of its name the Graduate School pays special homage
to the late Thierry Bal, the brother of Prof. Jean-Pierre Bal who founded the
graduate school. Thierry's everlasting spirit of openhearted team-playing and sharing of
leadership, streams through our school's existence. The vision of
leading-with-others matches a quotation by Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese
philosopher who said: "to lead the people, walk beside them". The programme participants, alumni, faculty members, and the friends of
the Thierry School nurture the soils of team-spirited undertakings, and share
numerous experiences and challenges - the ones found in the vast realms of
personal and organisational leadership.
The
image of an inspiring waterfall symbolises the
streams of energy flowing through our Graduate School's forest of learning.
