The MBA & MAL Dual Degrees Programme,

and the post-MBA Master of Arts in Leadership.

Goals of the Dual Degree and post-MBA programme

The aim of the Dual Degree (Joint-degree) and post-MBA leadership programmes is to provide business executives with a very extensive knowledgebase and expertise in, on the one hand, the business administration functions (found in the MBA), and, on the other hand, the art of effective leadership and initiation, management and mastery of change in corporations (as found in the MA in Leadership).

The combination of an MBA with the Thierry Master of Arts in Leadership (MA-L) degree is the most complete business administration plus leadership development curriculum available in Europe. The MA programme is field-oriented and people-centred; it is not an academic programme in "leadership science", but one in action leadership, in other words: in leading. There are important differences in the approaches used in graduate business education (MBA programmes), and in graduate leadership education (as in the THIERRY Masters or PhD programmes). These differences, as well as the Thierry Graduate School's MBA/MAL Dual Degree programme, have been highlighted in The Mind of a Leader, an article published in BizEd, the official magazine of the AACSB.

Program Options and Learning Modes

1. MBA programme

In the Dual Degree system the MBA programme attended on-campus at a graduate business school should be accredited by the AACSB, the AMBA, or by the EFMD (EQUIS). Admission into the MBA precedes admission into the MA in Leadership.

For persons residing in Belgium, the Dual Degree is offered in an MBA-concurrent or in a post-MBA mode. Further info: the accredited MBA programs, on-campus, of four Belgian business schools, in Antwerp, Brussels, Gent, Leuven, and Louvain-La-Neuve, please click here

2. MA in Leadership programme

For the MA curriculum, offered by THIERRY, there are several options and learning modes:

Participants residing in Belgium:

- MA in individually tutored blended version (version called "Sirius"), with coaching in Brussels. For details about the SIRIUS, please click here

- MA programme in part-time evening courses, graduating Class of 2010 (2008-2010), for details please click here

International participants residing around the world:

- Online version of the MAL ("Hercules" version), online, e-coached (distance) learning mode, details please click here

In-company programmes (corporate university platforms, in Europe):

- For executives of one (same) organisation, in blended learning format. Overview of the EML, Executive Master in Leadership, please click here

For admission into the MA in Leadership without the MBA (in the usual 'single degree' mode), or in a post-MBA mode, please got to the programmes overview or MA In leadership presentation page

Combined Fellowship Degree Programs

There is a Dual Fellowship programme for executives who benefit from an MBA Fellowship and attend an MBA programme such as, for instance,  the Stanford Sloan program. Applications are reviewed one by one, on a bi-yearly basis, and in cooperation with the (overseas) Fellowship institution. Please contact Prof. Bal for details (directorate@thierryschool.be)
