The
Thierry Graduate School's Shield: The Blazon
“Cum
sapientia semper ducit”
Our motto or blazon is in Latin. It refers to wisdom, and means: "He
or she always leads wisely” “ducit” is a conjugated form of the verb
“ducere” (to lead). Since definite pronouns were not used In the Latin
language, “ducit” conveniently refers to a man-leader or a
woman-leader. The scarlet field of the shield expresses the energy and passion of learning leaders. The azure bordure, chief, and pale, express the determination of visionary leaders. The embossed gold charge expresses
the lasting contribution of wise leaders. As a whole our blazon symbolises the soul of a leader who leads wisely.
To lead wisely... let one not focus on the search of the precise boundaries or depth of wisdom. As Maurice Maeterlinck stated it: "But what may this wisdom be that we rate thus highly? Let us not seek to define it too closely; that were but to enchain it". [2]
